Zoom’s G3

Zoom’s G3 Guitar Effects and Amp Simulator combines the ease of a stompbox pedalboard with the power of a multi-effects processor and USB audio interface. With complete control over individual effects and amp modeling, you can change your tones on the fly for both stage and studio.

THREE STOMPS ONE PEDAL

G3 offers three large LCD displays and corresponding footswitches that form a graphical interface, allowing you to utilize up to three stompbox and amp effects simultaneously. The interface has also been simplified with three control knobs for each display. This intuitive design makes creating, saving and rearranging the effect chain of your own sounds a breeze and provides easy navigation in live and studio settings.

EVOLUTION OF TUBE AMP SIMULATION

A newly developed sigmoid curve clipper re-creates the smooth clipping of a tube amplifier’s waveform. With its faithful tube distortion, G3 can simulate amplifier sounds, including clean, crunch and full-gain tones that are authentic to the original models.

REALISTIC AMP MODELING

G3’s 13 super-real amp models range from vintage to the latest trends in amp technology, each with its own distinct cabinet modeling that can be used to alter its tone characteristics. By combining amplifiers and cabinets from different makers, you can digitally design your own custom rig. G3’s modeling technology provides the best tone for both live performance and direct recording.

*Only one amp model can be used at a time.

94 STOMPBOX MODELS

G3 has 94 diverse types of stompbox presets, including some of the world’s most popular guitar pedals. You can use up to three effects in any combination. G3’s wide range of effects includes distortion, compression, modulation, delay and reverb. Its HD Reverb uses DSP power to produce a rich resonance that rivals outboard gear used in professional studios and live setups.

*Only two effects can be used in some combinations that feature amp models or HD Reverb.

NEWEST GENERATION ZFX-4 DSP

G3 utilizes the all-new ZFX-IV DSP effects processor. This generation of ZFX boasts amazing power, upgrading everything from sound to function and operability over previous versions. By using 32-bit floating-point processing, G3 possesses amplifier sounds that are more realistic than ever before.

LOOPER WITH 40 SECOND PHRASE RECORDING/OVERDUBBING

G3’s Looper capabilities include 40 seconds of phrase recording and overdubbing. The “sound-on-sound” function allows you to layer guitar sounds as many times as you want in real time. You can use looped sounds as simple backing tracks or create a “full band” feel with the built-in drum machine and DSP effects for a live solo.

* When the UNDO/REDO functions is enabled, the recording time is limited to 20 seconds.

USB AUDIO INTERFACE FOR DAW RECORDING

G3 operates as an audio interface, letting you record directly to your computer via USB. All of your sound settings used during rehearsals or live performances can be recorded to your favorite DAW such as the included Steinberg Sequel LE recording software. The pedal’s direct monitoring capability eliminates any latency problems, assuring realistic studio conditions and hassle-free operation.

100 VERSATILE EFFECTS

Select from 100 built-in DSP effects to create your own sounds on G3. Try its renowned compression and wah pedals, chorus effects with stunning depth and resonant reverbs. Or let your tonal imagination run free with dynamic flangers, tremolos, harmonized pitch shifters, multi-tap delays, reverse delays and much more. G3 can store up to 100 of your original creations without a hitch.

INTEGRATED DRUM MACHINE

Choose from 40 different rhythm patterns, including 4, 8 and 16-beat, shuffle and many others. The tap key also makes it easy to directly set the tempo and start a jam session anytime.

BALANCED XLR OUTPUT FOR DI USE

With its built-in XLR output, you can avoid DI boxes completely and directly connect G3 to any mixing console and maintain a balanced, high quality signal. In addition, a convenient Pre/Post switch can direct an effected sound to the main outputs while passing the guitar signal directly to the XLR output without the help of an A/D converter.

OUTPUT MODES FOR STAGE OR STUDIO

Different output modes allow you to optimize G3’s tones based upon its connection with your personal rig. In addition to modes for the front inputs of combo and stack amps, G3 can be used as a preamp when connected to a power amp input. By selecting the direct mode with a line connection, you can achieve a realistic guitar sound that is optimal for live use and recording.

ADD A G3 TO YOUR PEDAL BOARD

G3 is perfect for use in combination with traditional stompboxes. By adding a G3 to your pedalboard, you will decrease the size and complexity of your setup, while expanding your system’s effects and modeling capabilities.

ACCURATE, REALTIME TUNER FUNCTION

The pedal’s Tuner function offers smooth, real-time response with precise guitar tuning accuracy. Whether you’re in the middle of a performance or practicing alone in your room, simply hold down the pedal’s center footswitch to start getting your strings back on pitch. In addition, G3’s LCD displays and LED indicators make the feature easy to use on a dark stage, where you can also mute the output for seamless tuning.

WORLD'S FASTEST PATCH CHANGE SPEED: 1ms

With G3’s amazing 1ms patch change speed, you will never miss a beat. Change from rhythm playing to a solo in an instant by simply pushing the switch.

EXTREMELY FAST 5 MS PATCH CHANGE SPEED

With its amazing patch change speed of only 5 milliseconds, the G2.1Nu allows you to never miss a beat. Change from rhythm playing to a solo in an instant by simply pushing the switch and start playing the solo phrase at the same time because the muting interval when switching patches has been reduced to an absolute minimum.

BATTERIES, AC ADAPTER OR USB POWER

G3 can operate on three different power sources: AC adapter (included), batteries or USB bus power when plugged into your computer. Four AA/LR6 alkaline batteries provide over six hours of continuous playing. Whether on stage or in the studio, G3 gives you reliable power options.

ULTRA-LOW NOISE DESIGN

G3’s signal-to-noise ratio of 120dB and noise floor of -100dBm virtually eliminate background noise. G3’s ZNR noise reduction removes feedback and other unwanted sounds, providing you with beautiful tones and natural release.

OPTIONAL EXPRESSION PEDAL AND FOOTSWITCH

Connect an optional FP02 expression pedal to G3 and control effect parameters such as wah, pitch shift, volume, drive gain, modulation rate and delay/reverb mix in real time. Use an optional FS01 footswitch to tap the tempo used for the drum machine, looper and effects. You can also use an FS01 to mute the Delay/Reverb input or turn Delay Hold on or off.

RUNS ON BATTERIES AC ADAPTOR USB BUS POWER

The G2.1Nu can use three different power sources: AC adaptor, batteries or USB bus power when plugged into your computer. Four AA / LR6 alkaline batteries are good for 6.5 hours of continuous use. Whether in the studio or on stage, the G2.1Nu gives you power options that work.

FREE EDIT&SHARE SOFTWARE

Zoom’s Edit&Share software, which is available as a free download for G3, allows you to create, edit and save your personalized amp and effect settings on your computer. Use its “radar charts” to access visual representations of each preset’s tone characteristics, amp/effect sorting feature to easily locate your sounds and drag-and-drop options to rearrange patches for editing purposes. With Edit&Share, you can download the latest patches online, as well as share your patches with others.

Hamer STD-NT - Standard

"The idea here is to build a reduced size instrument that retains most of the full scale length, so that it plays and sounds like a normal guitar. The History of the Mini Standard goes back to Rick Nielsen's #0132 which was built in 1979. Soon after that we made one each for Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. In the 1980s we fitted one with all black hardware and a Floyd rose! This one recalls the styles from the '50s.

The challenge is to make an instrument that stays faithful to the full-size version without looking like a toy. By utilizing a 23 3/8" scale the playability and tone are very close to a full size guitar." The rosewood fingerboard ends with 21 frets. From this angle the guitar looks surprisingly like a "normal" sized Standard. The overall length of the entire guitar is less than 45". The slightly shorter scale enhances the fundamental, which, in contrast to its reduced size, really makes this little guy roar!

WORLD-CLASS RHYTHM SECTION

To get the best possible sounds, we’ve compiled a roster of ridiculously good A-list session players and recorded them at amazing studios around the country including Steve Vai’s studio, The Mothership, as well as Sound Asylum in Canoga Park, California and Sound Emporium’s Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee.

Get to know two of the masters who wrote and performed on many of the backing tracks in Spider Jam.

Musical director and bassist Tony Franklin is responsible for writing many of the tracks included in Spider Jam. Tony got his big break playing bass in guitar legend Jimmy Page’s supergroup, The Firm. Tony has since played with a long list of greats including David Gilmour, Marty Friedman, Gary Hoey and Quiet Riot.

Musical director and bassist Dave Pomeroy has played on more than 400 albums with such players as Elton John, Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood and The Chieftains. Dave was voted Bassist of the Year at the 1997 Nashville Music Awards.

VOX Dynamic Looper Offers Serious Live Performance Features

Unit features two infinitely stackable loops, effects and complete control

VOX Amplification (Winter NAMM 2011, booth 6440) announces its new Dynamic Looper. This floor effect unit contains two independent loops, Pre and Post Loop effects, and a dynamic footpedal allowing real time control of both loops and effects.

Two independent loops can be stacked with an infinite number of tracks using innovative Sound on Sound recording, with no loss of fidelity. Overdubbing features include last-step undo and redo.

Eleven categories of Pre Effects can be applied to the sound before recording, each offering numerous options. There are standard effects such as wah and delay, and unique effects such as pitch shifting, filtering, synths, and even bass and acoustic guitar simulators. Pre Effects can be applied to the instrument input, Mic input or both.

Also included are Loop Effects, which can be applied to the recorded phrases. Eleven effect types are provided; multiple variations of each effect can be used to create highly original phrases. Loop Effects allow the user to apply effects and control the recorded phrases with Pitch, Speed, Scratch, Stutter, Reverse, Cross Fade, and numerous Filters, Delays and Modulation Effects.
A "wah-style" expression pedal provides volume control, or can be assigned to a specific parameter control for the Pre or Loop effect. The imaginative design allows users to create sounds never before possible on the guitar. Four additional footswitches allow convenient performance control of the pedal's presets and recording capabilities.

The VOX Dynamic Looper holds 100 Programs. A single program contains the settings for the Pre Effect, the Loop Effect and assignment of the expression pedal. There are 50 Preset Programs and 50 User Programs. Programs can be created by either editing one of the preset programs or by starting from scratch.
The built-in metronome can provide a rhythmic guide; Loop Quantize uses the tempo to create perfect-length phrases that loop on the beat. Auto Recording Start waits for an audio signal trigger, eliminating the need to hit record. The entire performance can be re-sampled as the basis for a new loop. Three Stop modes allow Loops to be stopped Clean, with Delay added, or to Fade out. The dual-mode Master Limiter assures a constant level between the loops and the original signal.

The VOX Dynamic Looper dual-loop pedal with Effects, will be available May 2011 with a U.S. MSRP of $400.00 about RM748

Double your creativity with two independent loops
The Dynamic Looper provides two independent loops, with a combined total record time of 90 seconds. Each loop can be stacked with an infinite number of tracks using innovative Sound on Sound recording, with no loss of fidelity. This two-loop design opens up complex and highly original performance techniques, such as switching between phrases of different lengths, or containing different chord patterns. Recording loops is smooth and easy; the Dynamic Looper offers a variety of tools to help you along. Auto Recording Start waits for your first note; the metronome can provide a rhythmic guide; and the Loop Quantize function uses the tempo to create perfect-length phrases that loop on the beat.

Overdub with undo and redo
Build up impressive loops and performances by overdubbing a new part on to a recorded phrase. Use the undo function to remove the last overdub; the redo feature puts it back! This allows for not only getting flawless overdubs, but also opens the door for sophisticated performances.

Pre Effects add unlimited variety to your sound
Eleven types of Pre Effect that can be applied to your sound as you perform. A diverse selection is provided, and each offers numerous options. For example, a single effect can offer a clean sound, compressor effect, vintage-feeling overdrive or an aggressive metal distortion – and more! There are also standard effects such as wah and delay, and unusual effects such as filter, synth, and even bass and acoustic guitar instrument simulators. With just a single guitar, you'll be able to enjoy an incredible range of instruments and sounds.

Loop Effects radically transform your recorded phrases
The Dynamic Looper also provides a variety of Loop Effects that can be applied to the recorded phrases, transforming the phrases in dramatic ways. Eleven effect types are provided; multiple variations of each effect allow the creation of highly original phrases, and the ability to still add to a loop after it has been recorded. These include unusual effects such as pitch change and reverse playback, as well as fresh new effect types such as Loop In Loop, Scrub, and Stutter effects – great for generating twisting, rhythmic performances. Loop effects create an entirely new arsenal of sounds never before possible on the guitar.

Performance Effects
As you play, there are even more features in the Dynamic Looper to enhance your musical presentation. The Master Limiter offers both a Soft and a Hard setting. The Limiter helps to maintain a consistent level between the original signal and the recorded loop playback, as well as the levels between the two loops. Three Stop effects determine how the loop playback will end – with clean, delay, and fade-out options.

100 Programs
Overall, the Dynamic Looper offers 100 programs. A single program contains the settings for the Pre Effect, the Loop Effect, and the pedal assignment. There are 50 preset programs ready for immediate use, letting you enjoy the Dynamic Looper's possibilities right away. You can also create and store up to 50 of your own programs in the user program area, either by editing one of the preset programs or by starting from scratch.

Intuitive Control Pedal
One of the most important features of the Dynamic Looper is the control pedal. Styled like a traditional VOX wah pedal, this rugged pedal can change the input Volume, a specified Pre Effect parameter, or a specified Loop Effect parameter in real time to transform the sound. Use the pedal to control the Pre Effects as you record, then switch it to control the Loop Effect on playback, or continue using the pedal to control the sound as you continue to play. This convenient pedal control is intuitive and easy to use.

Resample to create even more complex loop phrases
While using the Loop Effect and/or control pedal to modify the loop phrase as it plays back, you can use the Resampling function to re-record the result. Resampling allows the layering of multiple loop phrases and effects, adding to the intricacy of the looped phrases. Re-sampling can also be used to create loops of a different length than the previously-recorded loop. Creative and diverse performance possibilities await you.

Pre FX Target Mode
In addition to the standard instrument input (1/4” unbalanced); the Dynamic Looper is also equipped with an XLR input for a dynamic microphone. This input also has its own trim knob for setting the mic level. The Pre Effect can be set to apply to the instrument input, the mic input or both simultaneously. This simple feature unlocks even more performance possibilities.
